EMA

EMA is a cash allowance paid by the government to encourage all students to stay on in further education. The payment is made directly to the student and is to help you with the cost of books, travel, equipment or anything useful to continue learning.  It’s worth up to £30 a week, and it’s paid straight into your bank account, not to your parents or your college. As long as you attend regularly and work hard, there should be no problem in receiving EMA.

In Newman School Sixth Form students are asked to sign a charter guaranteeing that they will attend school regularly and complete all work set. This agreement alongside 100% attendance will guarantee your  weekly payments.

EMA also pays a bonus twice a year to reaward students who have worked hard and met all their targets.
