Head of ICT
Students study ICT throughout their school career at Newman Catholic School, both in discreet ICT lessons and of course throughout all other curriculum areas.
All of our facilities have been introduced within the last three years and we are constantly updating our equipment. Students are also provided with their own personal email address and Moodle account.
The internet can be a dangerous place and at the forefront of all teaching is e safety. All content is monitored and we have invested in a monitoring system which logs all student activity. Through this system we can block access to most inappropriate websites and record any suspicious activity. Students emails are stored and monitored regularly and we have a thorough e-bullying system in place
The internet is a vital tool to enhance learning but at Newman Catholic School we are also aware of the dangers it can cause. Before students are allowed to access the internet, parents must sign an Internet Agreement Form. Students are also asked to sign an acceptable use policy before their account is made active.
Access to the Internet will be removed from a student’s profile if any abuse of the system is recorded. Parents are notified if this occurs.
