Learning Support

The school has identified academic, pastoral and spiritual aims which interlink and determine the organisation of the school. These aims apply to all pupils including those who require additional support. We believe, as shown in our Mission Statement, that all pupils are of equal importance and are valued for what they are rather than for what they can do. Just as the talents and abilities of each child are different, so to are his or her needs. By tailoring the curriculum to individual needs, the St John Henry Newman School will be able to confirm and affirm each child. St John Henry Newman School provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children, which is differentiated to meet individual needs and abilities.

Children may have SEND throughout, or at any time during their school career.

St John Henry Newman Catholic School aims to monitor, assess and review the progress of our pupils and aim to identify any SEND needs early. We support our pupils through in class support and also with access to small group teaching where applicable. SEND support is dynamic and a range of strategies and interventions can be used alongside or separate to in class support.

At St John Henry Newman Catholic School we encourage parents/carers to contact us with concerns as soon as possible and we liaise closely with them to overcome barriers to learning.
