On Monday, Father Luiz visited the school to talk to Year 8 about maths and the Catholic Faith. We learned that everything in the universe since the Big Bang can be explained by maths, well almost everything. The pupils were asked what they thought we didn't need maths for and they came up with many interesting ideas like; blinking, getting dressed, brushing their hair, but as these all require the movement of our bodies these are explained by science and this can only happen with maths. The teachers were asked why they liked maths, Mr Orton said "I have never found anything that can not be explained by maths", Ms Miller said " it is either right or wrong", while Mr Cookson really likes the problem solving aspect of maths. Father Luiz was impressed by the pupils, and everyone enjoyed the talk very much. P.S. The one thing not explained by maths…Love!
